On Friday, I went for a Toronto Blue Jays game, which was boring at times but we won. I got to hang out with one of my friends back from Med school, so that was good. I had a pretty epic wii tennis match with another friend and I am getting pretty good at it, but he still massacred me. There are so many shots that if you time it right are unreturnable and he's just so good at hitting those ones. I'm getting decent at Mario Kart and some of the new tracks are lots of fun too.
Today I started playing late because Dan and I were booking our Vegas flights. We're going June 10-24, so I should be able to get in 1-2 1.5k wsop events and the 1.5k/1k venetian events. This time, I'm looking to do some non-poker stuff like go to the Grand Canyon, go to a firing range, maybe go ride in a dune buggy. It'll be my 3rd time (5th and 6th week) going in a year and I've barely spent any time off the strip. Depending on how well I run, I might stay longer because draqq got a house for the whole month.
Anyways today was a very nice session. Running well in 60s and I got 3 handed in a 114/45 (very few ever go off so I've only played 5 so far) against 2 very good regs and I luckboxed a win. I made a very marginal call at the end but sucked out. The guy was definitely better/more experienced than me with like a 70k sample, so making a slightly bad call probably isn't the worst thing. I ended up about 1.8k in 3.5hrs. I cut the session short because I wanted to lock up a good sized win since I've been running poorly lately. Just a confidence booster I guess because I have been second guessing myself/playing too passively in spots.
I went out and barely got to EB Games before it closed and found Mario Party 8 for Wii which is a really awesome game. After that, I went out running for the first time in I think 4-5 days and I did 5km. I was hurting pretty bad throughout and out of breath, but I got through it, in I'm sure a pretty miserable time. I really should get a stopwatch.
My Dad came back from Switzerland and we plan on going golfing this Wed which I'm really looking forward to. On Thursday, my friend Jeremy is in a documentary about youth gambling and it's being shown in a bar downtown. A friend of one of his friend's asked to interview him about card counting last year (after the Foxwoods disaster) and he did it. The director wanted to interview me about poker, but I had hardly had much success and I figured not much good would come of it, so I decided not to. This film is going to be shown in high school classes across the province, so it's a pretty big deal. It got a grant from the ministry of health. I'm hoping I can get one of my friends to go see it b/c I'm not interested enough to watch it by myself just to see a bunch of people say how bad addiction is and maybe see Jeremy for a minute. There's obviously going to be a pretty negative spin on the thing... not like they can present gambling objectively to high school students because that will obviously give kids the idea that they can drop out, play professionally/gamble and everything will work out.
Hoping May keeps treating me well and makes up for previous months. Holla.
